WHY ALCANTARA HAS THE SHORTEST ROAD IN CEBU? (Photo of me taken at the boundary of Alcantara) Growing up I have heard different stories about how our town Alcantara has come to be the smallest town/has the shortest road in Cebu. The locals had lot of lores regarding of how'd it came that way. But let us all know the fact about how and why is that. This was answered by Atty. Gervasio Lira Lavilles (the brains of the Cebu City Charter) in his book “CEBU: History of its Four Cities and Forty-Nine Municipalities” published in 1965: “The town was established in 1830.
